This is Jesse. Jesse used to be a professional boxer. I met Jesse on Main St. where he was panhandling so this photo cost me a buck. It was a dollar well spent, Jesse and I walked together and talked after I took his photo. He has some great stories.

  1. I am very moved by your whole series. I know I will not be the first one to say it, but this series should be in a gallery for public viewing. They are wonderful portraits and wonderful stories and I think it is brave and telling that you have managed to talk to this many and gotten them to tell their stories.

  3. Well done again! I agree with kooka, your series is fantastic. I really love the complementary green and purple. Did you add the green haze to the background, or was that already there? It's the perfect backdrop for this portriat. His long face and large eyes really do well to tell a story of his life.

  4. The green was in a store window in the background, I did selectively blur the background but that is all. It was just one of those shots that took itself. I love when that happens.

  8. Congratulations on winning gold with this. I knew it would win the moment I saw it. Not only is it technically good, you have captured a sadness in this man that can't be faked. It's simply wonderful!

  9. Great work! I find people fascinating too. Excellent idea. This is a great study of the human spirit. I'd try it myself but I'd feel like I was invading their privacy.
