This is Amen. I met Amen at the 30th Street station in Philadelphia. Amen was a little down on his luck and trying to scrounge up enough money to get to Media, PA. We made a little deal and I got my picture. Amen wanted to know why I was taking pictures and I told him it seemed like people don't really talk to each other anymore and this was a way for me to make a change at least in my life, He agreed.

Amen looks a tad sad, I hope he makes it to where he wants to go OK.
ReplyDeleteA good solid gritty portrait, I'm so glad you didn't ask him to smile.
I love coming here to see your wonderful portraits and mostly, I have to admit, to read about their little stories.
ReplyDeleteWell done
I love how you phrased that, what a fantastic reason to give.
ReplyDeleteI have to second the comment about him looking sad. Seems there is a harsh story behind why he wants to leave; a detatched quality. It struck me even before I read the story and now I can't stop thinking about it.
Aww, Rick, you speak truth. His face is so expressive, a lot seems to be going on in his mind.
ReplyDeleteI agree on the melancholy, no doubt without a reason. On the photo itself, I would be tempted to rearrange the top of the window/door above his cap a bit.
