This is Don. Don is disabled and can't work. He was walking around downtown Phoenixville to get his daily exercise. Don has a habit of getting himself into trouble and is trying to change his life for the better in the new year.

This is John. I met John sitting outside the Earth Mart in Phoenixville. He had his headphones on and was singing at the top of his lungs. John is a really happy guy and told me that the owners of Earth Mart let him sit in front of their store. He says he likes to sit there and watch the traffic and people go by because it relaxes him.

This is Michael. Michael used to work at the Steel City Coffee Shop but was let go because he couldn't wake up early enough. Partying was getting in the way of work. Michael is an artist and is also interested in photography. He is considering stopping the partying and focusing on his life.

This is Jesse. Jesse used to be a professional boxer. I met Jesse on Main St. where he was panhandling so this photo cost me a buck. It was a dollar well spent, Jesse and I walked together and talked after I took his photo. He has some great stories.

This is Johnny. Johnny used to work for the same company I work for. Unfortunately, due to the poor economy, He was laid off. Johhny still comes to visit me and we talk about sports. I saw him today, he is happy and doing well.

This is Erin. Erin was walking on Bridge street in downtown Phoenixville today. We talked for a little while before I asked if I could photograph him. I found out Erin is also homeless and will be going to the shelter on High street. I am thankful I don't have to be homeless in this cold.

This is Chris. Chris was looking for the homeless shelter in Phoenixville. This is not the best time of year to be homeless, most shelters only allow you to check in before 5 pm. If you show up later you are out of luck.

This is Pauline. Pauline has worked as a waitress for 30 years. She just recently started working at the Collegeville Diner where I was having breakfast. I placed my camera on the counter and she asked what I was taking pictures of. I told her anything that moved. (That isn't really accurate. It's more like anything that moves me.) I told her about our 30 day challenge and what I am trying to do and then asked if I could photograph her. She graciously agreed.

This is Uko. Uko is earning a little extra money for his family working for a tax preparation company. His job consists of dressing in a Statue of Liberty costume and waving at passing cars in the freezing cold. I am much more grateful for my job today.

This is Amen. I met Amen at the 30th Street station in Philadelphia. Amen was a little down on his luck and trying to scrounge up enough money to get to Media, PA. We made a little deal and I got my picture. Amen wanted to know why I was taking pictures and I told him it seemed like people don't really talk to each other anymore and this was a way for me to make a change at least in my life, He agreed.

This is Anna. I couldn't convince any strangers to let me photograph them today so my daughter is my fill in. Anna is an actor and has already been in two off Broadway shows. I have been trying to do her headshots for her but alas she ended up paying real money for them after all. :(

This is Jim,He is an air force veteran from WWII. I met Jim in the Cabin gift shop behind the Valley Forge Chapel. We talked about the military with some of Jim's friends over coffee. Jim is a fun guy who likes to stir things up every now and then.

This is Wilbur. Wilbur works at the junkyard in Phoenixville and was waiting for his bus when we met. I was telling him I always enjoyed my trips to the junkyard and he told me how to get to the Phoenixville yard. I will probably meet Wilbur again when I visit. (Great place to take pictures by the way).

Crush


This is Crush. I met him on Jan 1st while he was waiting to go to work. He will be delivering beer today and he wished me a Happy New Year and hopes this year will be better than the last.

Worth1000 30 +1 Day challenge

This is my first attempt at the dreaded 30 day challenge on Worth. I am going to try and take a picture of a new face each day while learning this persons name and something about them. I am also an artist and I am hoping this will parlay into some illustration material as well.
